Snake as Art

I was wandering around in Lacassine NWR and found this snake sunning itself and as it was very cooperative, I was able to get down low and take this head on shot. I was intrigued by the ethereal look of the snake and the soft background and that made me start to think about the garden of eden…and thats how the image got created.

This is one of those images that has great action and unfortunately I messed it up in the camera and so it was not useful. I could never bear to delete it and stumbled on it the other day and so I made this conversion.

Tiger as Art

I have a great job, especially when I am on one of my wildlife workshops photographing a tiger. This is one gorgeous cat. I took this rather moody image and decided it should become one of my digital paintings.

Riva as Art

Riva is my friend Claire’s horse. He’s a gorgeous (her words) beast and was really a lot of fun to photograph. Riva is a Shagya-Arabian and is quite full of himself…in a good way.

Lion as Art

I first got hooked on making digital art as a means of making lemonade out of a lemon. Most of the time I had chopped off something or it was an out of focus image that go the artistic do-over. I’ve been going over all of my images from past African safaris and getting them up on the new website and found a few choice images for the Pixelologist to makeover.

This lioness was annoyed at one of the younger males that was a bit “frisky” and she was letting him no how she felt. Sadly, the light was low and I didn’t have enough shutter speed and so the image itself wasn’t sharp. Now it works as an oil painting. At least I think it does, let me know what you think.

Bee and Thistle as Art

I knew when I was photographing the huge thistle with the giant spiky blooms they were going to work out with Fractalius. Here are two of may favorites. I put the originals (no fractalius versions) in my gallery…HERE.

Bobcat As Art

I don’t do very many wildlife shots, they just don’t work very often. I really liked this shot; the bobcat sitting up and posing so perfectly and the colorful mountain background, well it seemed that I had to add it to my portfolio of digital paintings.
