Tiger as Art

I have a great job, especially when I am on one of my wildlife workshops photographing a tiger. This is one gorgeous cat. I took this rather moody image and decided it should become one of my digital paintings.

Least Tern as Art

I was photographing Least Terns in Biloxi and I wanted to play with a couple of them to see how they would look converted to art. I took a portion of an image and made this panorama. I hope you like it.

Orchids as Art

I was at the gorgeous Selby Gardens in Sarasota and took a few images of their orchids. I decided to make a couple of them in to a piece of digital art. I mixed up several photoshop filters to make it happen.

Cattle Egret as Art

I really like the original Cattle Egret image and it is on the artsy side of my photography, so I’ve included it here as well. The second image started with Fractalius and I went from there, the third is straight from the camera. Which is your favorite?

Butterflies as Art

I took some new butterfly pictures at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve and I find that they are great subjects for me to goof around with in Photoshop.

Brown Pelican as Art

While photographing an eaglet in it’s nest, I spent the waiting time photographing most anything that came along. The light was fantastic when this pelican came gliding in and I new when I took it that it would make a nice painting.

Riva as Art

Riva is my friend Claire’s horse. He’s a gorgeous (her words) beast and was really a lot of fun to photograph. Riva is a Shagya-Arabian and is quite full of himself…in a good way.

I don’t usually do these sketches, but I liked the way this one turned out. You can see “real” photos of him on my main website…HERE.

Hummingbirds as Fractalius Art

I took a lot of new hummingbird photos while I was in Colorado and of course decided to make a couple of them into digital paintings. I used Fractalius to create all of these images.

Lion as Art

I first got hooked on making digital art as a means of making lemonade out of a lemon. Most of the time I had chopped off something or it was an out of focus image that go the artistic do-over. I’ve been going over all of my images from past African safaris and getting them up on the new website and found a few choice images for the Pixelologist to makeover.

This lioness was annoyed at one of the younger males that was a bit “frisky” and she was letting him no how she felt. Sadly, the light was low and I didn’t have enough shutter speed and so the image itself wasn’t sharp. Now it works as an oil painting. At least I think it does, let me know what you think.

Maine Coast as Art

I spent a week in Maine and really really enjoyed being there. The coast line is spectacular and a photo moment at every turn. I was there when the wildflowers were in full bloom and in this image used the wild lupine for a foreground of a harbor image.
